Production Blog: Time In Between

Image
Hi there! The last I filmed was on Saturday. When I left I knew that there were scenes that still needed to be filmed but I wasn't sure if they were completed or not. I am  now aware that one of my teammates was able to film what was missing the day after on Sunday. So, it was just them and the actor. I wish I was there to watch the process and participate but I wouldn't have been able to go because of family matters. However, I am relieved that the hardest part is completed and we can move to editing.  Also, I did see the final product minus the titles. It was done so well and much better than I thought. I was worried that we would have to rush on some scenes because time felt so little. Especially when some of us couldn't meet on certain days. But when I saw what we came up with and the scenes my teammate did themselves, I am impressed and happy to turn it in. My team and I celebrated our achievement and we're proud for how it came out. We must add the titles to our

Production Blog: Catching Up

Hello! This week was spring break where we get a week off school. For the most part I didn't do a lot of schoolwork during the break. However, I did organize the order of the future blogs I need to do.    I was slightly confused because it felt like I had a lot of blogs to write but little to talk about. So, I use the time I had for my break to help myself and sort out what I'm going to be writing about. I am required to have 10 production blogs explaining the process of our filming. So far, including this blog, I have 5 production blogs completed. The production blogs I have so far are: the required music blog, a blog explaining preparations, and two filming blogs, plus this one. For the last five blogs, it gets a little bit different. I have an editing blog planned. It won’t be any different from previous editing blogs. However, we are going to do a film review blog where we show our progress to someone who isn’t doing the AICE Media Opening Sequence Project. This is how we

Production Blogs: We Meet Once Again

Welcome! Yesterday was our second day filming. I think we got a lot of progress done but we still need have work to do. This time, I brought my sisters ukulele as a prop. However, we ended up not using it but that's fine. When I arrived at the location, the actor wasn't there yet. It was Jordan, Julie, and I. Unfortunately, my teammate Nico couldn’t make it that day due to some issues. But, to not waste time, we began filming scenes where the actor wasn't needed. We filmed a wide angle of the room we're using. I helped my teammates figure out where we could film from and what position is best. The wide angle didn't take much time and the actor still didn't arrive. So, to pass time, we played video games and ate snacks until the actor arrived. When he did, we all got straight into filming. We had to reshoot some scenes because they didn't sync when put together and it looked choppy. The scenes we needed to film were the ones where the actor walks to

Production Blog: First Time on the Scene

Hello! On Sunday my team and I began filming. When I arrived, I helped my friends get prepared before the actor arrives. When he got there, I helped clear out the counterspace we were going to use. I placed the cans on the right side of the counter positioned where it looks best on camera. I had brought my lamp in case but we didn't end up using it.  When we began filming we used a tripod to hold the phone for a steady shot. The tripod was connected to a microphone the was plugged into the phone. The microphone was tested and used for the time we filmed. After every take, we would review it to make sure it would fit what we're looking for. I would so often put in my input and help make the shot good. I'd also help our actor when I felt like he could do better. I showed him different ways he could smoothly and naturally sit in the chair. He also kept looking at the camera which he then learn to control later on.  For the next part we filmed, we used pillows, trashcan, and

Production Blogs: Preparations, Decorations, and Anticipation

Hi there! So my team and I have had a few setbacks since last time we saw each other. First, we were supposed to film but in the end we couldn't for some reasons. We couldn't find a good day for all of us to film. We were unavailable one day or the other so in the end we didn't film. This stresses me out because we don't have a lot of time in total to film so I feel like we should try to film as quick as possible. The plan for now is that we are going to begin filming the following weekend.  After that, I got news that we could no longer be able to film at our original location. I was thinking about any good alternative locations but came up dry. I felt like my house wouldn't be a good fit because the setting we wanted was different than what my house looked like. I also felt like my house had too many distractions. We are better off filming somewhere else. Lastly, the original person that was gonna be our actor, Brandon, decided last minute he couldn't do it.

Production Blog: Our Views in Music

Image
Hi! At this point in the project, this is where we begin putting together our title design.  My team and I decided to start with the sound and music of the sequence before filming. A group mate of mine took the initiative of contacting several platforms such as Instagram DM, Universal Music Group, and Billy Joe. However, after two weeks and no response, it became a unanimous decision to look for royalty free music. I started looking for free stock music. I searched up free music and used the websites Bensound, Pixabay, and mixkit. These websites allowed me to play the music in whole and there were saving and downloading options. I was aiming for a number of things. I was looking for a melodic tune that contradicted the scene in a good way or something that builds suspense and kept the audience on edge. I also looked for heartbeat sound effects for the title sequence. I was able to find some options of heartbeats but couldn't decide on one since the audio from he school computer l

Storyboard Blog: Sketches Before Shots

Hey, I hope you didn't miss me too much! Today we completed our storyboard, which was not too difficult to create being that our script contained the majority of the information we needed to format it. I've explained each scene at length below to ensure that everything has been clearly conveyed. Scene 1:     In Scene 1, we will begin with an establishing wide shot that will capture the exterior of the subject's home. We intend for the atmosphere to be gloomy and depressing and for the lawn to have sickly-looking grass. Said dismal setting will be shown with the intent of establishing context within the first few seconds of the opening and allowing the audience to understand that the location in which the subject finds themselves in is not the best, as will be later indicated by other details, which I will highlight in later scenes. At this point in time, the name of our studio will be shown in the sky, directly above the roof of the subject's home, for two to three seco
