After we finished the commercial a reflection sheet was given to me to measure my growth and understanding during the whole project. 1.        How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?         The AriZona Tea company likes to keep the “vintage” look and style. Their drinks are aimed to look like it’s from the 90s. The AriZona company supports the lqbtq community by teaming with It Gets Better Project. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?      AriZona Ice Tea is mostly known with teens and young adults. The old fashion aesthetic of the cans is a huge reason the audience buys the product. To be able to distribute it socially would be through social media apps popular among the audience. Such as Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube. Etc. 3.        How did your production skills develop throughout this project?      In the beginning, I was impatient with how many retakes we we

Commercial Blog

Our Arizona Tea commercial is finally finished. It was more fun than I thought it'd be.  At first I was worried I wouldn't like it because I felt like it would be too hard. After brainstorming the commercial with my group it made me excited about the project. We planned our commercial and began filming after a few days of planning. The filming process itself was enjoyable even though the sun was out and it was hot most of the time. We had to change some of the original plan and we struggled with a few scenes but it all fit in the end. The result of the commercial was much better than I thought it would be. I looked a bit strange because the sun was right in my eyes. I struggled keeping them open while filming. Aside my appearance, the commercial looked really good and it got the point of the drink across to the audience.  Of course, there is always room for improvement. The commercial isn't perfect and we need to practice clipping and editing the video.

The Finale

Today was the last day to work on our commercial. The last day to edit. What we needed to do was align the clips properly, finalize what song I am going to use for the ad, and any last touch-ups.  Thankfully, Jordyn edited some of it the day before and picked a good song. The song was Pump It, it is pretty common on social media. I liked the way it sounded and I agreed with it.  Now that the song choice was done, the final touches needed to be done. I was looking for a site we can use to edit our video. I tried to use the OpenShot app. However because I was using a school laptop, I couldn't download it. I ended up using ClipChamp to edit on Jordyn's laptop.  I was revising what we had making sure everything was there. I would give Jordyn my input about the way the clips looked. One of the cuts didn't align with the next clip. I tried to shorten it to see if it will make it look better but it looked worse. I then tried to crop the video and move it slightly down. But, the

First Day Editing

Today my group and I began planning the editing.  I worked on looking for proper sounds that fits the commercial. Since the beginning of the commercial, it's a hot and sunny day, I felt like it was only proper to add cicadas to insinuate that it is a hot day. As for music, I struggled finding something that would fit the scene where Nico and I talk and get the drinks. I was looking for something specific. I wanted a song that sounded summery and upbeat. But nothing that would be TOO upbeat. I needed a little jam that when you listen to it it makes you do a little dance.  I started looking at different songs on my personal playlist to see if I could find anything that might work. My group as well would pitch in ideas for songs. I got a bit side tracked and started jamming to music for a bit but got back to work. It was enjoyable listening to different and new songs I haven't heard before.  As I'd be looking for songs, Jordyn would ask for my opinion when she was editing

Filming? Check!

Today we've finished filming our commercial 100%. Finally! The only clip needed today was the clip of Nico’s hand going into the Arizona desert to get the drink. Since one of our teammates wasn't here today, Jordyn, it was just me it was just Nico, Julie, and I filming the last clip we needed for the commercial. The original plan was to record it in the baseball field, however we couldn't find a way in, so we used the softball field instead. It wasn't that big of a change because both fields have the orange sand we needed for our commercial. We got settled and got everything out and in place to begin filming. Our props are printouts of the Arizona desert on pieces of cardboard. It wasn't as easy to work with as we thought it was, especially with the wind blowing it away every so often. To solve this, I placed little piles of sand behind the printout so they wouldn't fall over so easily. It worked for a while, but I decided to place a few rocks around i
