Production Blogs: We Meet Once Again
Welcome!
Yesterday was our second day filming. I think we got a lot
of progress done but we still need have work to do. This time, I brought my sisters
ukulele as a prop. However, we ended up not using it but that's fine.
When I arrived at the location, the actor wasn't there yet.
It was Jordan, Julie, and I. Unfortunately, my teammate Nico couldn’t make it
that day due to some issues. But, to not waste time, we began filming scenes
where the actor wasn't needed. We filmed a wide angle of the room we're using. I
helped my teammates figure out where we could film from and what position is
best.
The wide angle didn't take much time and the actor still
didn't arrive. So, to pass time, we played video games and ate snacks until the
actor arrived. When he did, we all got straight into filming. We had to reshoot
some scenes because they didn't sync when put together and it looked choppy.
The scenes we needed to film were the ones where the actor
walks to the table and sits, and where he looks back when his mother is calling
him. After we re-filmed the scenes we needed, there was a slight issue with the
cut. The part where he throws away the apple ends in a black screen, and it
interferes with the scene after, and we couldn't re film the apple scene
because it took a long time to cut it since there were technical difficulties. So,
I suggested that we start the scene after the trash scene, with a black screen
so it can match. To do this we used a black poker chip and we taped it to the
end of a marker. Recovered the camera with the chip and the marker acting as a
handle so our hand wouldn't get in the way of filming. This strange technique worked,
and the videos did sink when put together.
After every scene we’d review it as a group and try to fix
any minor problems together. This included cutting the video shorter, screen
recording videos if the iMovie app was malfunctioning, etc.
After that, it was time to change settings and begin filming
in the room. We had to figure out how the light flickering was going to work. We
needed the bedroom lights on at the same time the closet light is on. However,
the issue was for the lights to flicker inside the closet, the bedroom lights
would turn off and it would be an inconsistency in lighting. I tried fixing
this problem with the phone flash and this light we had. By this time, it was
getting late for my mother, and she wanted me home so I had to leave before we
could finish filming the scene. I trust that Jordan and Julie knew what they
were doing, and I have no worries at all about how it came out.
Here is a picture of Jordan getting her poker chip.
