Second Day Filming!
The second day of filming was yesterday. Since the next scene's location is at a diner or a restaurant, I was headed to the Moonlite Diner. A small business restaurant that sells burgers, fries, and foods of that relation.
Beforehand, I emailed the owner of the restaurant asking for permission to film at their location. They sent an email of approval and once I got to the diner, I showed them the email so we have absolute permission to film there.
I waited with my group for things at the diner to slow down so we don't disturb any of the customers present. I didn't want to make the place look bad while people were eating or ruin their experience at the restaurant, the owner was kind enough to let us film and I didn't want to ruin their reputation.
After the diner died down, I walked outside with my group to film the scene where the actor steps into the diner. The goal is that as the actor steps outside the car, the camera and location changes before he completes his step. So it transitions from the car to the diner.
I was the DJ playing 'Saturday Nights' the video was being filmed. Playing the song in the back, while the music video is being filmed, helps with limiting the amount of film time. As soon as I stop playing the song, whoever is filming needs to stop too. This aids with not going overtime as we only have one minute and fifteen seconds of the video needed.
In the music video, the actor orders burgers and fries, since the food is supposed to look unappetizing in the video, I ordered the food ahead of time so it can look stale and older. I brought extra cash to pitch in for the food that we used to film plus an Oreo milkshake for myself.
After that scene is done being filmed, I went outside to where the next scene was. Due to the lack of lighting, my groupmate and I were holding our phone flashlight to provide sufficient lighting for the video.
For the last scene, the actor gets a message from his friend Marco that says "Hey, I heard that Evelyn passed away, I'm so sorry." Since I'm the one texting this for the video, my name is changed to Marco on the actors phone and I send the message when I get the cue.
After we finish the final scene I celebrate with my groupmates and I finally order wings and fries as a reward for myself.
Below is the response email I received from the owner after I requested permission to film at his diner.
